Founded as an apothecary in 1851 in New York City’s East Village, Kiehl’s is a beauty and fragrance brand with a rich history. Beginning with women’s fragrances and cosmetic products, Kiehl’s expanded its range with a men’s line in 1961. Andy Warhol was said to be particularly enamored of Kiehl’s Blue Astringent.

According to Kiehl’s lore, the original Kiehl’s fragrance, Love Oil, was formulated in 1921 by a distant Russian relation of the Kiehl family known only as “”Prince Karl.”” Today, the authentic Love Oil fragrance is still a popular Kiehl’s offering; consumers know it as Musk Oil. In addition to the timeless Musk Oil range a Musk Eau de Toilette, scented shower gel and lotion are also available Kiehl’s developed a range of exotic Aromatic Blends. These unisex fragrances have a distinctly lush profile.

Customer favorites include the rich and smoky Vanilla and Cedarwood, the light-hearted Nashi Blossom and Pink Grapefruit, and the herbal/floral hybrid Patchouli and Fresh Rose. Fig Leaf and Sage has a bright, stimulating character, while Orange Flower and Lychee tends toward softer, sweeter floral and fruit notes.
