Amouage Gold Man is the signature scent for Amouage. The classic French Perfumer, Guy Robert, was hired to design this scent using classic Arabic perfumer materials with a classic French twist. Guy Robert remarked of the scent “you always have a dream of creating the perfume, the one in which you are given free rein to use all the essences of your experience, your thought, and imagination, no matter how expensive.” Opening with a little citrus note, the incense and florals add depth and richness, with plenty of animalic notes at the base to keep this very complex. It takes very little Gold, whether the men’s or women’s version, to scent you, and this is what “wealthy” smells like.
Top Notes: Rose, Lily of the Valley, Frankincense
Heart Notes: Myrrh, Orris, Jasmine
Base Notes: Ambergris, Civet, Musk, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Oakmoss
The Most Valuable Perfume in the World, Amouage has its origins in the Sultanate of Oman. The making of a perfume is never done in a hurry but rather is a culmination of years of patience and hard work— The gold plated embellishments on the beautiful bottles are meticulously afixed by hand. Amouage is based on the core ingredients from Oman - Silver Frankincense, Myrrh and Rock Rose. Today, as in ancient times, the precious resin from the very ordinary looking frankincense tree is harvested carefully by hand, by a select caste of tribal herders. The essence of an incredibly rare variety of rose called the Omani Rock Rose grows and flowers for the briefest period each year on the remote mountains of Oman.
