Fragrances that evoke the scent of an evergreen forest/tree are hard to come by. Cape Heartache does a pretty great job at it while adding a unique twist (as most of their fragrances do) with the addition of a strawberry note. Since I was looking for a straight forward evergreen forest scent, the strawberry note, unfortunately, detracted from the overall experience. That said, Cape Heartache still gets a lot of praise from the community for its creativity and authenticity. I also consider it a good fragrance and one worth checking out if the description interests you. It just was not what I was looking for personally.

My fiance and I smelled this and some other Imaginary Author fragrances together. This one made us both immediately jump to “This smells like camping.” To both of us it evokes memories of camping in our youth and those are pleasant memories for us. I know there is a strayberry accord, but to me it’s so faint that if you didn’t tell me about it — I wouldn’t have noticed it at all. It mostly smells like a campfire to me, and I mean that is a completely good way.
I haven’t bought this one yet (but it is on my to-buy list), but I’m not sure where most people would wear this. It kind of smells like you’ve been around a camp fire…..I mean really. To me though, Imaginary Authors don’t necessarily make the most wearable-out fragrances, but that’s OK. This is one I would wear around the house and enjoy it for myself. I sampled and am buying…..5/5
