Christian Dior developed a love of fashion when he was just 5 years old. He would sell his fashion sketches outside of his home in France for 10 cents each. Dior designed for multiple large fashion houses in his youth before founding his own in 1946. Wasting no time, he launched Christian Dior Parfumes just one year later. Still a cult classic to this day, Miss Dior was the very first perfume created by the house of Dior. This powerhouse brand has released over 50 fragrances for men and women and show no signs of slowing down. FLORIS

Luxury perfume house Floris knows history. With a story that stretches back almost 300 years, the English fragrance company has served distinguished clientele from Florence Nightingale, who kindly sent a thank-you for the "sweet-smelling nosegays," to Marilyn Monroe, who ordered Rose Geranium from her room at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Inside the shop at 89 Jermyn Street, antique Spanish mahogany cases display the company's storied past and inherited knack for mixing fragrances that stay classic. Here is No. 127, a lavender-citrus scent that was originally blended in 1890 for the Russian Grand Duke, and, 50 years later, remained a favorite of Winston Churchill and Argentinian First Lady Eva Perón. James Bond preferred No. 89, a woody citrus that he wore in Ian Fleming's novels. The brand's celebrity attraction continues today, though family-run Floris remains discreet on names. Founded in 1730 by Juan Floris, his descendants have run the shop for nine generations at the same address. Until the 1960s, each scent was mixed by hand in the cellars beneath 89 Jermyn Street, though fragrances are now made at a modern factory in Devon. Customers to the shop find a Royal Warrant from King George IV framed on the wall, appointing Floris as the Smooth Pointed Comb Maker to His Majesty. Today, the company is the sole perfumer of Queen Elizabeth II. To celebrate her Diamond Jubilee in 2012, Floris launched Royal Arms Diamond Edition, an updated version of the scent created in honor of the Queen's birth in 1926.

As one of the oldest perfume houses in the world, Guerlain produces some of the finest fragrances with distinctive confection aromas encased in equally distinctive designed perfume bottles. One of its oldest and still most popular women's perfumes is Jicky, said to be the first fragrance to combine both natural and synthetic ingredients, the latter creating its staying power. The latest debut of feminine scents is Insolence, a perfume for the care-free spirit. For men there are notable scents such as Heritage and Velvetier. Maison Francis Kurkdjian, created in 2009, is a fairly young, fragrance house whose two founders are dedicated to reinventing the classicism of fragrances. Francis Kurkdjian and Marc Chaya consider their fragrances to be ‘sensory adventures’ and work meticulously on perfecting each one. Co-creator Francis Kurkdjian is no stranger to the world of fragrances; before launching his namesake brand he famously created the scent Le Male for Jean Paul Gaultier at the age of only 26. When you wear a Maison Francis Kurkdjian fragrance you know you are wearing a unique creation that was made with sophistication and passion.
