A tribute to the peace and harmony of a late summer afternoon, a fragrance that envelops. Tardes is pure romance: like a moment of utter stillness, in which you remember you want for nothing, Tardes smells like tranquil love. Geranium and rose meet in the first moments of this fragrance and while rose appears to dominate, geranium is an undeniable presence within those blushing petals; the clean, limpid grace of Bulgarian rose is interrupted by geranium’s tart pungency, so that our opening bouquet smells serene yet energetic. As soon as these blossoms unfurl and intermingle, almond is close on their heels, a little sister who threatens to steal the limelight from these floral beauties. Creamy, tan and bittersweet, this fresh nut marries perfectly with cedarwoods sap-sweet, cooly spiced textures. Celery and plum soon step forward as ideal suitors for rose and geranium, fruit and vegetable whisking blossoms into waltzes that regenerate the top notes. Rose marries effortlessly with plum, who brings out her richer, ripest tendencies while celery weds geranium, the saline, herbaceous crunch of the stalk perfectly complementing the acid pop of flower. A base of Tonka bean, musk and heliotrope are a gentle landing pad on which the flurry of preceding action comes to rest. Not unlike the long awaited, deep slumber of Helena, Hermia, Demetrius and Lysander in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the flit and fleet of the scented pairs that populate the top and heart notes of Tardes finally resolve on this velveteen floor of gourmand musk, and all is well in the world thereafter. Enticingly sweet, lighthearted yet rooted in a deeper peace, Tardes is both playful and sophisticated. We happily whisper ‘Buenas’ at a welcome sniff of Tardes.
